The Business of Creativity (Part I): The Organized Artist

About

The Organized Artist is designed to help independent creators transition from casual, informal operations into structured, legally sound business owners. Before diving into financial management or marketing, you need a solid operational foundation. This self-paced module demystifies the administrative side of being an artist—showing you how to set up your business, handle essential paperwork, stay tax-ready, and present yourself professionally to clients and organizations. Throughout this module, you will learn how tax authorities view paid creative work so you can shift from operating on the fly to intentionally running a business. You will compare Sole Proprietorships and LLCs to determine the right legal setup for your goals, master required onboarding documents like Form W-9 and Form 1099-NEC to get paid quickly, and assemble a standardized brand asset folder that makes pitching effortless. The module includes "The Mindset Check-In" pre-assessment quiz, official tax forms, and practical checklists to ensure you are fully prepared to operate with complete professional confidence.
